Job Description: Maintenance Staff
Location: Premier Learning Center, Pennsylvania
Job Type: Full-Time Or Part-Time

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Staff is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the childcare center’s facilities. This role includes performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections to support a safe and healthy environment for children, staff, and visitors. The Maintenance Staff works closely with the Director and other team members to maintain compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, restrooms, kitchens, and common areas.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the facility to identify and address maintenance needs.
  • Complete minor repairs to furniture and equipment.
  • Maintain outdoor areas, including playgrounds, walkways, and parking lots.
  • Ensure all safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, alarms) is functional and up to code.
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of furniture and equipment for events or classroom changes.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and administration.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inspections.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines, including those related to COVID-19 and sanitation.
  • Contact professional tradespeople when needed for specific repairs.
  • Outdoor Maintenance Specific Responsibilities:.
  • Inspect and maintain playground equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
  • Remove debris, trash, and hazards from outdoor play areas and walkways.
  • Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal, leaf raking, and lawn care.
  • Maintain fencing, gates, and outdoor lighting.
  • Ensure proper drainage and cleanliness of outdoor surfaces.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in facility maintenance, preferably in a childcare or educational setting.
  • Basic knowledge of general repair work.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Familiarity with Pennsylvania DHS facility regulations is a plus.
