Job Description: Cook
Location: Premier Learning Center, Pennsylvania
Job Summary:
The Cook at Premier Learning Center is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks to children in accordance with USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines. This role ensures food safety, cleanliness, and compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Human Services regulations. The Cook works closely with the Director of Food Services and other staff to support children's health and wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks that meet CACFP nutritional standards.
- Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and served in accordance with food safety regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, food preparation areas, and equipment.
- Monitor food inventory and order supplies as needed within budgetary guidelines.
- Accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies in meal planning and preparation.
- Maintain accurate records of food production, meal counts, and compliance documentation.
- Collaborate with staff to coordinate meal schedules and special events.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in food preparation, preferably in a childcare or educational setting.
- ServSafe certification or equivalent food safety training.
- Knowledge of CACFP and Pennsylvania childcare food service regulations.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds and perform physical tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Food Safety Requirements:
- Maintain proper food temperatures during storage, preparation, and serving.
- Use gloves and hairnets during food handling.
- Sanitize surfaces and equipment before and after use.
- Label and date all stored food items.
- Conduct regular inspections of kitchen and food storage areas.
- Follow handwashing protocols and hygiene standards.
